Academic Computing

After taking a queue from a few of the other students in class… I, too, decided to look beyond the realm of the posted blogs and find another blog to follow to add more diversity to the conversation.

I tripped upon the “Academic Computing” blog, written by Neil Brown. He is a education computing researcher (ugh!) in the UK.

While I find his choice of occupation to be quite painful, I have found his blog to be quite informative. He mainly posts about differing computing and programming techniques as they relate to academia. One interesting article I found compared Java programming students the UK against the same students in the US, and questioned when they performed the majority of their programming tasks. Interestingly enough, procrastination spans oceans, and both sets of students did the majority of their programming work after midnight.
