You will report your work on Project 5 in an oral presentation delivered to your class during the final week of lab. The requirements for your presentation are outlined below.
1. Your presentation should be 10-15 minutes in length.
2. You must prepare a visual aid (e.g., Powerpoint presentation) to accompany your presentation. Your presentation file must be uploaded to the Project 5 Presentation Folder before your lab. Please include your initials and lab day/time in your file name.
3. Your presentation must include the following major elements:
• Introduction and Background. Explicitly state and describe the purpose of the investigation. Be sure to illustrate and describe the specific reaction you performed. Briefly discuss the context for the investigation. (Why might this be an interesting molecule to prepare/reaction to perform?)
• Methodology. Explain how you carried out the investigation by providing a general description of your procedure. Appropriate terminology and scientific descriptors should be used.
• Argument. Articulate one or more claims about the outcome of your investigation based on the purpose described in your introduction. Present the evidence you gathered during your investigation and rationalize why it supports your claim(s). Be sure your analysis considers the identity, purity, and quantity of reaction product(s) you obtained. (How successful were you in accomplishing your planned reaction? If you did not have an anticipated product structure, how did you identify your product? How confident are you in the assignment of your product structure?)
Your presentation will be graded according to the rubric provided below. Make sure your presentation is consistent with the specific expectations described in the rubric.
NOTE: Your lab team will present your work as a group. Each team member is expected to make a significant, evident contribution to the presentation.
