1) I think you just need to add a north arrow to each of your maps

Hey Theo! I really like your first map of average number of vehicles per household.I think it shows a very nice representation of the data.

1. The map has a lot of key elements. The title “Estimated average number of vehicles per household in 2009-2013” is clearly stated at the top. The map shows each state to scale. It shows the online tool, policymap, that was used to make the map, but I cannot find the data source or a north arrow.
2. I think that map does a great job at showing the area of coverage in the US. The map is focused on the US and does not show a lot of other unnecessary countries or area that would distract from the data.
3. It is easy to see the unit of analysis, states in the US, on this map. They are clearly divided by visible borders.
4. The time period, 2009-2013, is clearly stated at the top of the map.
5. I like that it is easy to see the 6 distinct classes on the left hand side.
6. The color scheme, a pale pink to a deep burgundy, allows the reader to distinguish between the different state data.
7. I like that each state is labeled, but the resolution could be made a little bit better so that each label is more legible.
8. The map allows you to see that there is, in general, a lower average of vehicles per household on the east coast, and a higher average in the north midwest.
9. Overall, I really like this map! I would not have guessed that there would be a higher average vehicles per household in the north like the map shows. Really interesting!
