Hey Rizza! I think you did a really nice job of representing the population of 18 to 64-year olds living in poverty in the US.

1. I like that the map has a clearly stated title at the top of the page. All of the states are shown to scale too. The legend shows a nice clear scale of 1 to 75 in the upper right corner, but I am not quite sure what units these numbers are in. There isn’t a clearly seen north arrow or source on the map, but I also had a hard time figuring out how to add those elements on my own map when using SocialExplorer.
2. I think the map does a great job at highlighting the data. It is not too zoomed in that you don’t get a full picture of the US, but not too zoomed out that other unnecessary parts of the map are become distracting.
3. The units of analysis, states, are clearly laid out and there are distinguishable borders between them.
4. The time period, 2014 (5-year estimates) is included in the title a the top.
5. There are 11 classes seen in the top right corner, from less than 1 to greater than 75. Again, though, it is difficult to know what the numbers’ units are.
6. I like that the orange nicely contrasts the gray and makes the states really pop! As the orange shades darken, I found it a little more difficult to distinguish between the different classes (for example, from 20-30).
7. This map does a nice job of labeling every single state, as well as capitals!
8. The map does an excellent job at showing the pattern of higher levels of poverty in the South. The light orange vs. dark orange makes it easy to see this trend.
9. I think this is a great looking map! Great job and thanks for sharing!
