This is a really cool map!
1. It looks like most necessary map elements are present. Title, legend, and source are all easy to locate, but it seems that the north arrow and scale are missing. I found it difficult to add either of these using policymap as a tool, as well – it felt easier to add them manually using another program.
2. The extent of this map felt kind of awkward to me. I did not experiment much with the export tools on policymap, but the extent of the map snips out parts of the United States. I feel a slightly larger extent or a more focused one would present the data more effectively.
3. The data summarizes the data as a percentage of households using census data. This is all presented effectively on the map.
4. The time period is also effectively presented in both the title and description of the map (2009-2013).
5. There are a fair number of classes, effectively differentiating areas of high and low electricity use across the United States.
6. The color scheme effectively presents the data without impeding basic elements like state borders and major roadways. In addition, the coloring does not get in the way of labels.
7. The color of the labels on the map effectively set it apart from the layer below. However, the labeling feels inconsistent, as certain states lack capitals and other major cities.
8. It appears that large cities have a higher percentage of households using electricity. However, more general trends may have been effected by weather patterns over the four year period of data collection.

I think this is a really interesting map. You can definitely see some trends in the southern part of the country.

1. There is a title, legend, and source in the map, but there is not a scale or north arrow.
2. The map covers the majority of the U.S., but cuts out a small portion of west coast. The individual states are labeled though.
3. The map was looking at what percentage of households used electricity to heat their homes between 2009 and 2013.
4. The map is looking at a time period between 2009 and 2013.
5. There are 6 classes of colors in the legend that show different percentages of households that use electricity to heat their homes by county within the U.S.
6. The map uses a light to dark purple color scheme. I think the colors are very distinguishable from one another and make the map easier to read and interpret.
7. The map labels the states in the country and most of the capitals of the states as well.
8. There is a clear trend in the south/southeastern part of the country that shows a significantly higher percentage of households use electricity to heat their homes than most other parts of the country.
9. I think it is a really well done map and there is definitely an interesting trend present.
