This website is a great way to visualize many of the things we’ve been learning about in class. Through its huge number of parameters and extensive customization options you can see many global systems. A sampling of options are ocean currents, wind patterns, and particulate pollution flow.
Within each of these categories, you can specify additional controls, such as altitude and type of pollution. Overlays and animations can be modified to show different comparisons of data. You can even change the projection and date (including forecasting the future).
I would encourage you to take some time and poke around (click on the “Earth” button to expand the options menu). It is a great visual way to make connections between different parts of the course and our world!
This website is a really cool visualization tool. It reminds me of Ventusky.com but seems like more of a Google Earth kind of projection. I like it!
This has for some time been my favorite map in the way it visualizes pieces of our global physical geography in ways that continue to perplex and amaze. I just, yes. This a great interactive map series and I hope it continually connects people with the world around them and makes them feel as if they are a part of something larger – they are, it’s our Earth.
Like Jason and Jared stated, this map is amazing in that it lets you visualize many of the processes we’ve studied in class. Though I may never have the chance to go to Saudi Arabia, I can vividly see the wind currents of S.A. on this map, a truly amazing feature.
This interactive map is very fascinating as it allows us to see different processes that we studied in class happen in real time. I liked it because it lets me visualize wind and the temperature at surface at the same time. Neat.
