Clouds 365

This website is all about clouds.  The author of this blog, Kelly Dulay, has committed to taking videos and pictures of clouds everyday for one full year.  The videos are amazing and the pictures are all so complex and different.  The artist has classified his photographs according to month and time of day.  This website is a wonderful combination of art and geography.  The artist includes his philosophy on producing and creating art in the “About” section of the blog.  Enjoy!

  1. This is a really cool website and I’m looking forward to seeing it once it’s been running for a few more years and the collection of cloud photographs increases. I listened to the tutorial on the Clouds 365 Community and thought his goals for the future of the Community were really interesting. He wants to eventually create a GoogleMap with thumbnails all over the world so that people can choose a city and be able to look at pictures of clouds during a particular time period in a particular area on the globe. There are some really beautiful images and I would definitely recommend taking a look at them. Great site for cloud-watchers, photographers, and geographers! Now that we know which cloud formations lead to which types of weather patterns, etc. I bet we could predict the forecast for the city just by looking at the picture of the clouds! Exciting stuff.

  2. This Clouds 365 project really takes advantage of time-lapse filming which has been the technique for many of geography based film projects recently. This technique was used for Plant Earth as well as Life (Discovery Channel Series) in order to capture events such as plant growth and disturbances to large areas. Many of the fascinating clips of these series were captured through this method and would be unavailable without it. This website is another great example of this technology.

  3. I like how interactive the website is. I also like that the clouds are broken into time frames, so there is consistency when one compares a particular day to another day.
