Theories at Cavi

While I have witnessed many instances of leadership throughout the company, the most impactful and inspirational is the leadership of my mentor, Sam.  I have described his transformational leadership style in my previous post. He is a very charismatic leader and seamlessly combines this technique that he expresses with his emotional intelligence.  The way Sam is able to read his audience, and anyone he is talking to, is very impressive. Emotional intelligence is the ability to recognize emotions in others and use that to guide behavior and adapt to the environment.  Sam’s emotional intelligence ensures that every meeting, presentation, and casual conversation leaves you feeling secure and confident. He is able to guide a presentation or meeting with ease and consistency to make sure information is being absorbed and communicated.

I think that the combination of his charismatic leadership, transformational style, and emotional intelligence allows Sam to create a strong social identity within Cavi.  Sam creates an environment in which employees and interns alike feel included and part of a team. He creates a strong team, which in turn makes each member of the team want to work hard and create their best results to support each other.  Employees at Cavi trust and rely on their team because of the strong social identity and connection they feel. Cavi has a meaningful impact on the employees’ lives after work ends and Sam’s leadership aids in making each person feel as though they are an important part of Cavi, and that Cavi is an important part of them.  The strong group identity that stems from the transformational leadership style creates an amazing work environment and helps produce amazing work.
