WK4 Personal Contributions (buying, merchandising, & web production)
This week has been a hectic week because I have taken on a variety of roles. The Buying team, who I work with a lot of the time has been in New York for a show for the Fall,Winter, and resort lines. While they have been away I have been answering emails from vendors and making sure all of the orders are getting to the warehouse on time. The Buying team has also been sending me all of their picks from the shows they’ve gone to and I have been tasked with putting them in power points for each designer and vendor. I then have to find the style number, wholesale price, price the items, and then determine when (month and week) Tuckernuck could sell them.
Our web production associate has been out on vacation and she asked me to fill in and take on a lot of her day-to-day duties and projects while she is away. I have been uploading new product to the website, going over customer reviews and making notes on how particular items could be changed as well as making sure to updated any of the ‘additional information’ about the product to the website so that customers can be more informed.
I have also been merchandising campaigns and collections. I merchandised and created the 4th of July mens and ladies collections and campaign that launched today. I have also been merchandising the fancy shop, going out, and feel good finds collections. When merchandising these collections I have to tell a story, make sure it is visually appealing, makes sense, is updated with new product, and makes the customer fell like they cannot live without those products. It takes a lot of time and energy and forces me to think about who is the Tuckernuck client, what would they want, what are they thinking, and also how does Tuckernuck want to brand themselves in this particular collection
Once again, seems like you’ve been entrusted to do quite a bit for the organization; you’re sort of keeping the house in order while your colleagues are not there. Seems you’re getting exposure to a variety of areas within the industry, which I am sure is helpful for you to get a full picture. Would be interested to hear if any of the work you are doing, decisions you are making, etc. are informed at all by concepts/theories from LDST.
