1. Story is clear; however, I think you have a lot of points! The map would be more substantive if you focused on maybe 20 of the most popular tourist destinations instead of 30. You can remove some points that are really concentrated in one area (there are a lot of points in Nairobi) or combine some points (like Giraffe Center and Giraffe Manor).
3. Level of generalization is good
4. Symbology is mostly clear, but pictures aren’t showing up! 🙁
5. Symbols match the data
6. Good text symbols, I really like the descriptions of each place; they make me want to go there
7. Good figure-ground organization
8. Maybe you can reorder your points of interest so that they go from west-to-east or north-to-south; they seem kind of randomly placed
9. Pictures need to be put in but other than that all the basic elements are there

This is a cool project!
Your map’s strongest feature is the story it tells by highlighting the individual places’ most famous features. With so many different parks, buildings, restaurants, etc, it is especially important to talk about what makes the place special. On symbology, I like the colors but I’m not sure what they mean – do all the purple tagged places have something in common vs the blue places? I like your choice of basemaps from a distance, but it gets a little fuzzy & unclear when it zooms in – experiment with other basemaps to determine the best looking figure-ground organization (maybe something that shows major streets/cities?)

It might be my computer, but I can’t seem to see any pictures, so definitely fix that glitch. This map is also quite long in information – you might benefit by taking out some places and adding cool pictures/video/descriptions to the remaining places. Also, you could benefit from a more exciting title/description.

I know basically nothing on this subject, so it’s really interesting to see these cool features mapped out! Great job overall!

Good job! It was nice to see the beauty of an African country in the spotlight. If you can, it would be nice if the map was zoomed out a bit in order to have some reference of where in the country the site is, for example site 20 (Lake Turkana) is just a point over water and the user has no visual of where they are unless they zoom out on their own. Otherwise, I really like the map, and the push pins you used.

This is a great project for story map! A couple of suggestions….

-I would include an introductory slide that explains the topic, shows where Kenya is located (remember the elk migration map) and tells the user what the different colors mean.

– I would explore different basemaps, this one seems fuzzy when zoomed in to close.

– I would think about highlighting the top 20 destinations. Also, where did this data come from?

– Explore some marker styling that would help bring more attention to your points.

-I like the pop-up that reinforces the name of the destination.

Keep up the good work, and cant wait to see this on Thursday.
