Custom 3D printer on a Robot Arm Printing a Chair!

Now here is a large 3D printer!  Dirk Vander Kooij is a designer who uses a repurposed manufacturing robot as a 3D printer to extrude recycled plastic into designer furniture.

For him, the visible resolution of the printer, i.e., the beads of plastic, (rather than the smooth output from plastic molds) is a preference – he wants people to see something about how the furniture was made.  For more information about his history and technique, visit his site at .
