Final Assignment Description
My topic is: Representation of pop culture through the use of film and music, using Childish Gambino’s music video titled: “Feels Like Summer”. The video contains many references and celebrity cameos that represents music, entertainment and problems today’s’ society.
I chose this topic because: the video demonstrates the ideals of pop culture and problems in society with the use of celebrity cameos, along with the lyrics. The lyrics symbolize problems and the dangers of air pollution and climate change. It is very interesting how Gambino is able to highlight those important problems while also having artwork of celebrities that are used to symbolize black culture and music entertainment.
The piece of media that I will be using is Childish Gambino’s music video: “Feels Like Summer”.

Looking good! I’d consider focusing on the environmental arguments that he is making, which is a really interesting reading. This would be plenty for 3-5 minutes. You can then connect it to contemporary debates about climate change. Also make sure it is clear why Childish Gambino’s music is important.
