In everyday life, networks are occurring all around us. For example, websites such as LinkedIn connect ready-to-work employees with their future bosses or employers. However, in recent times, I feel as though social media has became a very prevalent networking source as well. Social media can be described as people in relation to one another mediated through network technology. Apps such as Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok were created to form a worldwide network of people. On these spaces, creators from anywhere in the world can share their content to connect with others. A good deal of either the photos or videos released into these apps can offer users the opportunity to learn about other cultures and ways of life. Moreover, when content is either given a like or is commented on, the network continues to grow. Without social media, many people would never have been able to communicate through the powerful network that has been constructed.

I agree that social media has become very prevalent for networking because on apps such as Instagram, it tells you who else you are connected with and refers you to people who you might want to know. This can be very useful when reaching out to people and speak to them about people they know and information that they can relate to. Social media is, in my opinion, the best and most powerful way to network in this given day. This is due to the fact that most people are on social media in one way or another, making is simple to do a quick google search and get background information about people.

I agree that social media apps are a major form of networking in our society today. I also appreciate how you mentioned that these networking apps allow us to learn about different cultures around the world. In the past I have been able to see instagram posts and TikTok videos from different cultures. One time a TikTok video of the view from the top of the London Eye appeared on my “for you page”. This was extremely interesting because I realized that anyone had the chance to see this tourist attraction from anywhere in the world. This video can be seen as a form of networking because it was communicating important information about a treasure, belonging to the city of London, with the world.

I agree that social media has become one of the most frequent and popular examples of networking. It is interesting to think that dropping a single like on a post can lead to a world of networking. For example, when liking an Instagram or TikTok post, it can network you with a group of people who also shared interest in that same content. Expanding further, apps like Linkedin can be used to find jobs by connecting people online. Social media has made it far easier to network and more accessible to gain access to a wide variety of people.
