Prosperity Plaza through Memorial Gardens, back to the gate at Comstock House

So, I’m going to just cut to the chase, I don’t like this section. It has nothing to do with the lore, the lore is amazing, it’s mostly with what happens in the game. From the beginning I had problems. When I got to Comstock’s front door, the gondola just didn’t appear, nor did any enemies spawn. I ran around for about 10 mins trying to see if I missed a lever or a Shock-Jockey thing. Nope, had to reset to fix it. While there wasn’t that much I had to redo, it’s more of the principle. It did provide me with some interesting information, however, gear is not set, it changes when you reset. After that, I was able to continue the game and move onto the main setting of this section.

After getting into Emporia, I found myself getting board with the gameplay. Not to say that it’s bad, it’s perfectly functional and keeps me engaged. It’s just that, after the nth headshot or 2 mins straight of listening to a fireman scream because he walked into an electric trap and was being eaten alive by zappy crows, it just lost something. I think part of it is where we are in the game. There was only one vigor left at the start, and we got it here. The upgrades just change damage numbers, how many are affected and how long the effects last. I cleared out the vigor vending machine just because I had the money. When I went back to the bar for the side quest, Elizabeth threw me a health pack, and the prompt didn’t go away. It didn’t break the game and it went away when she gave me money, but it was a little annoying with the health pack symbol in the middle lower third of the screen and could do nothing about it. On a positive note, the side quest gave me the last vigor (the shield one), and I love it. I also found the second 2 “Lady Comstock” fights to be really annoying, though I found the reason behind her strange behavior to be interesting.

Now onto the lore. I have soooooo many questions about the Luteces. Are they alternate versions of each other? Were they both alive in both universes, and one died in one and the other died in the other? Are they married, they act like it. What did Comstock do to them? Which Comstock was it? How did they get spread across the multiverse? How does Lady Comstock not realize that she didn’t have a child? How do the tears factor into everything? Where do Fink and his brother fit into this? How do they know of Booker? Were they the ones who killed the guy at the start of the game? Are they the ones who got Booker into debt in the first place just to save Elizabeth? Where is this universe’s Elizabeth? Did she die, did she get away? This songbird had a cracked eye, does that mean that in this universe Booker blew up the angle as well? If so, does that mean that Elizabeth has a “home” for the songbird to take her to? I may not be in love with the gameplay anymore, but the lore is going to keep me going until the end.
