BioShock Infinite through Battleship Bay
Playing BioShock Infinite through the second set of checkpoints was a little different than the first. Obviously the difficulty increased in fights that you entered. All I can say is that playing on a trackpad is definitely not as much fun as using a controller or mouse. Obviously we play as Dewitt. Before we saved Elizabeth we were still unaware of who this girl on Monument Island was. Once we see Elizabeth we meet here and find her character is a little strange. She seems to have a strange power which we see on the elevator when she opens a tear. She seems to have some very important power that is not possible for a human. The game obviously as my video touched on is set in a heavenly/surreal atmosphere with floating buildings. I think that this furthers that feeling that the developers were trying to go for and leads me curious to why she was being trapped in the statue.
The Battleship Bay level we hear Dewitt call Elizabeth Ana when he wakes from his fall after jumping from the statue. This seems to foreshadow something that we will find out later. As we discussed in class this will become more clear in the future. However, I wonder if it is more likely to be his daughter or wife/girlfriend. Maybe we can find signs along the way before we are told.
Finally I wanted to talk about the action. For a game being made in 2012 I think that this has pretty good graphics. The guns that are in this game are extremely realistic. The guns that are in the game still seem relevant to current day which is really interesting. Again because a lot of the world seems to either be heavenly and religious or futuristic. I also think the theme of religion/heaven with guns is strange but intriguing. Overall BioShock Infinite so far has been the best game we have played so far in my opinion. I love the storyline so far and it being a shooter game is really cool.
When first meeting Elizabeth I was confused on her backstory. I’m still curious about how/why she has the power of opening tears but I do know they are useful during her and Bookers adventures. I agree that the developers did a good job of making the players always want to know more. I don’t think I’m alone when I admit that I have yet to understand the full plot. Foreshadowing surely helps me to predict, but the only real way to figure it out is to continue playing.
