It was the Wednesday before the first day of summer research 2021 and I emailed my students with our mantra for the summer: go with the flow. I had a sick 15 month old child at home, our governor had declared a state of emergency because of the pipeline breach, and the pandemic had really taken a toll on productivity over the past year and a half. Now, on the second day of summer research, I’m rejuvenated by my students’ enthusiasm and excited to see what they accomplish. We’ve got big plans (and little ones) and they have already hit the ground running. We are still certainly going with the flow, but I’m optimistic that flow will take us somewhere beautiful.

Makayla, Cathy, Sydney, Ted, and Hannah – Thanks for bringing your energy this week. I’m looking forward to a productive and enjoyable summer!
