EDM

A DJ utilizing technology to produce music

Electronic Dance Music, or EDM, is a combination of many electronic music subgenres, including disco, house music, and other subgenres that are used with a dancing crowd. EDM originated with the disco genre in the late 1970s, with its use of drum machines and electronic instruments. With the rise of Musical Instrument Digital Interfaces (MIDI) and computer-based music in the late 1980s, EDM made its way into the “post-disco” era, contemporary rave, techno, and finally, mainstream music through remixing popular songs of today.
