Getting Help
My Office Hours
I hold office hours in Ryland 218 every week between 3 – 4 pm on Mondays and 9 -10:30 am on Thursdays. Feel free to drop by anytime during these hours to go over assignments or discuss any aspect of the course. You can also arrange to meet with me by appointment outside of office hours at swatts@richmond.edu or my office phone at x8339.
Outside Tutoring and Academic Skills Workshops
For those of you seeking extra help, I recommend the Academic Skills Center. They have a list of tutors at their website http://asc.richmond.edu/tutor/subjects/index.html who can meet with you individually.
On Tuesday, September 8th from 7 to 8:30 pm the ASC will hold a workshop for students on Critical Thinking and Critical Reading. I urge you to register to attend this very helpful (and fun!) session at http://asc.richmond.edu/advising/workshops.html
Speech Center and Writing Center
The Speech Center (speech.richmond.edu) is located on the fourth floor of Weinstein hall. It opens the third week of the semester but will be taking appointments starting the first week. Speech Center consultations are REQUIRED for formal oral presentations in Week 7 and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to prepare for your formal presentations at the end of the semester.
The Writing Center (writing.richmond.edu) is located across the hall from the Speech Center in Weinstein Hall. It offers individual appointments with Writing Consultants. They also have a wonderful on-line resources called Writer’s Web (http://writing2.richmond.edu/writing/wweb.html) please refer to this when looking for help on specific writing problems.
