For this assignment, you will select one topic drawn from a particular SOL and write a series of 3 lessons to teach the topic to students. These lessons should include hands-on experiences, disciplinary literacy practices, direct instruction, and varied formative assessments.
Your mini-unit will be presented as a single page on the course blog. The page must include:
- Narrative introduction describing the mini-unit SOL and topic and general approach to instruction.
- 3 lesson plans (modified format), each between 35-45 minutes in length.
Over the course of the three lessons, you must include at least one hands-on activity, varied literacy practices (foldable, graphic organizer, guided reading, notetaking, etc.), direct instruction on science content, and different forms of formative assessment.
