I’m torn about whether this is good news or bad news. Joann Chongsaritsinsuk was selected to participate in the Summer Research – Early Identification Program (SR-EIP) from the Leadership Alliance. When she first told me she wanted to apply, I was hesitate to be supportive because losing someone who is talented, intelligent, and enthusiastic for research during our intensive 10-week period in the summer is hard. Of course, however, I am excited for her opportunity and for this different experience. She will be performing research at Harvard gaining exposure to an R01 institution similar to where she will eventually end up for graduate school. She may even get to do research with mice! We will miss her in the lab but wish her all the best. We can’t wait to hear all about it!

Also, I completely forgot to post this picture of Joann when she presented at the IIS symposium earlier this semester. She did a wonderful job!
