This graduation season was a special one for me. I stepped on to University of Richmond’s campus four years ago approximately at the same time as this class of 2018. Just like these students, I have learned a lot, grown as a person, and been immersed in the Spider community.

During commencement, we celebrate our students’ accomplishments and look forward to all of the amazing things they will do in the future. But it is bittersweet for us as faculty: I hope to have impacted their time on our campus, I am excited for what they will do with their lives, and I am sad to be here without them.

To the class of 2018: Keep in touch. Do good. Always question and grow. You are never too old to learn something new.
