The term new media is all relative to the generation that is using it. For our generation, new media can be shown as technology or even as social media. For example, whenever Apple releases a new iPhone or the new MacBook, it is essentially new media. The old media is large desktop laptops and landline phones when the new media… Read more »
Overall, author Lisa Gitelman suggests that the purpose of new media is “to study the contemporary moment” and follows the “perennial newness of media”.
