I found this Getting Started with ArcGIS StoryMaps tutorial very helpful. You might, too.

ArcGIS StoryMaps enable you to create an illustrated story about most anything. I’d like you to create a story map that illustrates how a particular keyword we’re studying throughout the semester is depicted, interpreted, or integrated across multiple new or traditional media.

For example, if I were to select the keyword “agency,” I’d seek to define what I mean by agency, then identify multiple examples of agency that reflect that definition of agency from across media. I might contrast a map of Israel that depicts the West Bank as an annexed area with a Palestinian map that depicts Israel as Palestine without distinguishing Israel and discuss how maps share agency in revealing different political ideologies and/or realities. I might then include examples of other media with agency to influence or define political or ideological realities, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, to further reveal what I mean by agency, especially agency shared among assemblages.

The purpose of the assignment is to develop a complex, multi-layered, multimedia illustration of the keyword term.
