Technology is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it helps us get accurate and comprehensive information in a short time. On the other hand, It is like a wall that puts distance between people. Technology indeed provides a lot of convenience to us. For example, we can use social media to make video calls to others, take classes and meetings online, play electronic products to relieve pressure. However, these will also cause negative effects. Because of the convenience, people will prefer to chat with others online and play games at home instead of meeting directly in person. It will cause what is mentioned in vox that technology is shortening our attention spans and making us more distracted and also making us less empathetic, less prone to ethical action. Face-to-face communication is important in this age, which influences a person’s empathy ability. Take me as an example, I feel more energy when I am in school although I face more pressure and workloads. I’m better able to listen and understand others and share my thoughts with others instead of listening to others through calls at the same time doing another thing. I don’t need to guess the meaning of words online, which can usually cause misunderstandings and arguments. Moreover, I am easier to focus when I reduce time on playing phone. Technology is an indispensable tool in our life. It depends on how we take advantage of it.

I agree that technology has both a positive connotation and a negative connotation. For example, while social media is an amazing way to connect with people and share content, it also can create unrealistic realities of people and places. This can lead to societies pressure and the constant know of where people are and what they are doing. I also agree that there is an aspect of face to to face conversing and human interaction that is stimulating and causes the brain to think more. During zoon classes, having to sit and stare at a screen with people is very different than in person. It has a sort of robotic feeling where someone traps you into a box.
I agree with your statement that technology is a double edged sword. While technology provides so many opportunities and conveniences, it also puts up walls between people by discouraging in person interaction. During the pandemic, though, I think technology has been incredibly useful. Computers and zoom have allowed students to continue learning, workers to hold meetings, therapists to treat clients, etc. Technology allowed people to connect and communicate when physical interactions were not possible. During the Spanish flu pandemic 100 years ago, technologies like Zoom did not exist, so schools were shut down and businesses were put on pause. The fact that remote interactions are possible through technology has definitely been a benefit during the pandemic, but in the long run, I think this way of life has its consequences because everyone needs a good balance in person socializing to have good mental health.
