Technology is one of the fasts growing commodities in society due to its forever evolving nature. Our technology today is very different and more advanced than our parents had. For school assignments we have the ability to research articles, videos, and any information we need; however, when our parents were in school they had to use the newspaper for articles and watch the news at night to see the videos needed to complete assignments. In addition to the advancements needed for education, technology has been beneficial for quick communications. For example, during any sort of campaign, having it be political or within the community, technology has allowed people to share their voice and ideology with others without even having to move. Information can be sent to someone else within seconds, yet previously they would have to wait hours, days, months to get information out. I believe that students should be able to have laptops or tablets at their disposal to research and better their education in school. Whether they buy it on their own or the schools have the ability to lend them out at times, technology will take education to the next level and keep students evolving into the new times where technology is evolving too.

I certainly can see the examples that you suggest and I think they also speak to the dangers of this phenomenon. Its significant efficacy in our student and political lives gives opportunity for corruption. While yes, it does allow us to get information much more readily, this allows more misinformation and biased views to slip through. This is because there is a lack of filter or excess of filter. For example, the internet allows anything to be posted at any time with limited capabilities to prevent hateful rhetoric and ideologies. On the other hand, social media and major shopping sites like Amazon cater what you see and lack exposure.
I agree that the technology we have at our disposal today is far more advanced than anything our parents had growing up. I liked the examples that you included about technology’s involvement with education and communication, especially in regards to the internet. With increased access to the internet, globalization has increased immensely. 40 years ago, a B student in the United States would have had way more job opportunities than a genius in a 3rd world country. However, with the internet, people are able to easily and efficiently share information, ideas, and education across the globe. The playing field is more leveled, so the genius in a 3rd world country may have just as much or more opportunities than the adequate student in the US.
