Other (including maintaining IRB Insider)

Other: Maintaining the IRB Insider Blog.

One of the responsibilities of the IRB Chair/Administrator is preparing and maintaining the IRB Insider Blog.

The IRB Insider Blog was initiated with the assistance of Andrew Bell, an Academic Technology Consultant of the University of Richmond Teaching, Learning & Technology Instructional Specialists group. He can be contacted at Abell4@richmond.edu.  Kevin Creamer (kcreamer@richmond.edu) is the director of this group.

The IRB Insider Blog can be accessed by the public at: https://blog.richmond.edu/irbinsider .  Editors will go to https://blog.richmond.edu/irbinsider/wp-admin and login there.

Current persons with editing access to this this blog are Dr. R. Kirk Jonas (rjonas@richmond.edu), Andrew Bell (Abell4@richmond.edu) and Tim Vest (tvest@richmond.edu).  Tim is the Director of Operations & Finance, Academic Affairs, Provost Office.  Again, editors of the IRB Insider Blog should visit https://blog.richmond.edu/irbinsider/wp-admin to log on and edit material in the Blog.

When logging onto https://blog.richmond.edu/irbinsider/wp-admin , an editor will see the page as shown on the IRB Insider, Blog Editor Start Page.  (This is an example of a media page available to editors.)  When on the actual IRB Insider home page, the editor should select “IRB Insider” from the horizontal navigation bar at the top of the page.  The IRB Insider home page will appear and the editor should scroll to the bottom of the page and select “Edit”.  When making any changes to this blog, the editor will have to click on the word “Edit” at the end of that section.

If only editing content, such as this page, the editor will select the content to change; deleted existing content, and/or; add additional content.  When the content as been added, the editor must save the edits by clicking on the Update button on the menu to the right of the material being edited.  A pop-up box will alert you if you are leaving a page without updating the page you have edited.

To upload new media (Word docs, PDFs, etc.) to the Blog, such as the IRB Insider Blog Editor Start Page, the editor must (1) click on “Add Media” in the upper left of the edit menu and ANDY; HERE IS WHERE I GET LOST AGAIN; I NEED MORE DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO LINK TO THIS PAGE.

To put more media in the media library.  Click on the “Add Media” button in the upper left of this window.menu bar and select “Upload Files” …

Click on Add New and Add New” again and then click on “SELECT FILES” in the middle of the page. (2)  After clicking on “SELECT FILES” locate the document that you want to upload and then click “Open”; this uploads the file. (3) The new document should now be in the Media Library.  (4) Return to the page that you are editing and then click “Media” in the left menu column.  Select “Media Library”  ANDREW: I AM UNSURE WHAT TO DO HERE.  WHEN I SELECT THE “Editing the IRB Insider Blog Document”, IT TAKES ME TO AN “ATTACHMENTS DETAILS” PAGE AND I’M NOT SURE WHAT TO DO.
