Development of UR Policies and Procedures

As federal regulations are a “floor” and not a ‘”ceiling” on human subjects’ protection, the University of Richmond — as with most institutions — has university-specific policies and procedures.

These UR-specific policies and procedures can be accessed at the IRB website and in the attached UR IRB Policy Guide.  Chapter 7 of the UR IRB Policy Guide lists those policies which have been approved by the University of Richmond IRB.  University of Richmond policies must be adopted by a recorded vote of the convened IRB.  The IRB Chair is authorized to make minor changes such as updates to revised links, name changes, citations, etc.

Questions on the IRB can be directed to Dr. R. Kirk Jonas at either irb@richmond.edu or rjonas@richmond.edu.

University of Richmond faculty members serve on the IRB.  They often have discipline-specific information that might be of value to researchers.  A list of current IRB members and alternates can be found on the Members page of the UR IRB website.
