Since 2008, classics majors and minors have had opportunities to pursue independent research related to the Ancient World Gallery. This work has involved inventorying the collection, classifying items, writing catalog entries, searching campus archives for object histories, and preparing thematic essays published here.

Students in the Fall 2021 Ancient World Gallery Seminar (Julia Berutti, Maky Espinoza, Hunter Hagan, William Hunt, Madison Phillips, Michelle Rutledge, Daniel Saravia Romero, Lindsey Stevens, and Paige Walworth) conducted more detailed investigations of the history and significance of the ancient items in the collection, to write new labels and the new catalog entries presented here. They also designed the new displays of ancient artifacts, replicas, and books for the new gallery space in the Humanities Building.
