Both inside faces of the coffin feature the goddess Nut with arms outstretched to embrace Ti-Ameny-Net’s body. Nut wears a dress made of a net-like material and a red girdle resembling the Knot of Isis, a common protective design. Nut was the sky goddess and also the mother of the gods.
Nut’s depiction on the interior faces of both the top and bottom of the coffin was intended to ensure the protection of the deceased. Egyptians often repeated images and prayers on coffins so that in the event of any damage, one complete prayer or image would then continue the magical effect.
