Policed Discourse

I chose this photo and quote because I think it addresses the problem of representation in media production. Among every level of production, there is a chronic lack of representation from minority groups which influences how culture is perceived. This photo represents how this person, white and male, is directing a film. Although the film may not be exactly from his perspective, his experiences as a white male influence the narrative and how the film is created.

“..challenge and interrogate the way that production is limited and policed in discourse and practice to think about a broader set of productive relations through which meaning, identity, and culture are generated.” (pg 153)
