Week 2 Blog

This quote is referring to education as an ideology that has formed an unconscious system. Hebdige is discussing how education has become a concrete system that prevails unquestioned, and is not often changed. The education system serves as an ideology because it is so engrained in society that few stop to question its value. This quote is referencing the fact that what and how material will be taught is already decided and repeated. This image represents the education system working as a machine that produces graduates without creativity, discipline and intelligence. The production of these individuals is done identically and without any other consideration based on the ideology of the school system. I came across this image in a Google search for problems with the education system following reading Hebdrige’s article. I used Photoshop to insert the quote under the image.
