Projects of The Past 160 Hrs

One of the greatest projects I have contributed too and spent time on during my internship so far is an attendance database that monitors the attendance for Chris’ IGNITE leadership events. These events are his main platform for providing leadership education and training to a wide array of workers, spanning from floor workers to executives. I have input names for the past 6 IGNITE events and coordinated with other individuals to attain there level within the company and specific organization that they are at. There are a few key reasons the maintenance of this database matters. First, it exists to maintain professionalism, in terms of the process that Chris goes through to send out invites. In this situation maintaining professionalism looks like not sending an invite to someone who has previously attended and inviting individuals in a timely manner. Second, the recording of this information holds weight in terms of maintenance of records existing to demonstrate an individual workers motivation for human development opportunities. A final reason this information matters is because it acts as data to affirm the heart of Chris’ work — to reach for the masses and deconstruct the power hierarchy that strongly affects culture right now. One of my greatest impacts on the sustainability of this program will hopefully me the evolution of the database from one operating within excel to one being maintained through an outside platform. Currently, I am coordinating this transfer with the digital team in the company and am excited to see what we can create together in the remainder of my time.

I have also worked on maintaining other databases, one specifically looks to record pre and post survey results from participant pools from the IGNITE events. One of the most weighted pieces of this information source is the Net Promoter Score. A measure that is used within both marketing and management teams to dictate the loyalty of customers to one’s product or service and predict business growth. Dictating this measure was a completely new role for me so I had to do the background research on its significance and how to calculate it. As the number found scores very high within the ranking system, the resulting information Chris will be present on in future meetings as a means to concretely demonstrate the outcomes of his work.

One of the final components to my work is doing research on ways to concretely evaluate, measure and then demonstrate the effectiveness of Chris’ leadership programming for both participants via surveys and for the people he reports too. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the joy I’ve found in contributing to all of these projects. Even though some of the tasks may appear outwardly mundane I find happiness in the fact that it all feeds into sustainability, best practices and support of the IGNITE leadership programs that I truly do believe in.

Sounds like you’ve really been able to contribute in meaningful ways thus far. The nature of these projects, though some might dismiss data management, is always important to the development and growth of initiatives like IGNITE. And developing measures to assess effectiveness of programming is a skill that can be transferred to all sorts of industries/fields. Though grammar is not being graded here, there are some points that get a bit rough, though I generally know what you are saying. Just may want to read through once more before submitting.
