A Worldly Taste in Music
When we were assigned this project, I had a little difficulty in deciding what I was going to talk about. All I could think was that I have never left the East Coast except to study abroad last semester. However when the idea to talk about music hit me, I had to scold myself for forgetting that 90% of the music that I currently listen to is not in English. How could I possibly have forgotten that the reason why I am majoring in international studies began with the discovery of music from around the world? Discovering music from all around the world peaked my interest in other languages and cultures and influenced me to learn more about them. I want to experience the world as much as I can and if I cannot travel to do it, then listening to its music is a good place to start.
