Because the Downey group just can’t stay away from the aldol reaction, we’ve published more science.  Congratulations to Hadleigh Glist ’16, Anna Takashima ’17, Sam Bottum ’20, and Grant Dixon ’19 on our latest publication in Tetrahedron Letters.  This whole project was born out of a control experiment that Hadleigh ran for her first project, which we published in 2015 in the European Journal of Organic Chemistry.  The unexpected result in the control experiment led to a new project, now published here:

Hadleigh’s experiments eventually compelled me to go back and look at some data from over a decade ago.  I realized that I had misinterpreted a spectrum and drawn some incorrect conclusions that were published in the very first paper that ever came out of our group.  So this spring, I published a correction to our original paper, which also appeared in Tetrahedron Letters.  That correction appears here:

Thanks to everyone for the great work!  It’s a pleasure working with intelligent and diligent young scientists.
