UR Blackboard Maintenance May 30th

Blackboard will be unavailable for a 30 minute outage tonight at 10 PM. This short outage is necessary to apply security updates to our database server. Please know the system will not be available between 10PM and 10:30 PM and no changes will be made to course content. If you have any questions or problems, please contact blackboard@richmond.edu.

Network Outage

Over Memorial Day Weekend there will be a 24-hour outage for the data centers, starting Saturday May 24th at 8:00 am. During this time all network equipment and servers will be disconnected  for approximately 24 hours (this includes email, Internet, Banner, OneCard, Micros, Blackboard, Library, Spider Management, academic research servers/clusters, VPN, etc).  Please note that Blackboard will not be available during the outage period so we suggest downloading all materials (such as articles, PDFs, PPTs, etc) necessary for your course prior to the outage so that you will be able to continue to work OFFLINE during the outage. You will not be able to take assessments, upload assignments, contribute to discussion boards, or anything within the Blackboard application.

If you have any problems after the outage, please contact blackboard@richmond.edu. If you have questions regarding the outage, please refer to http://is.richmond.edu/network-internet/2014-network/OutageSchedule.html.

UR Blackboard Maintenance Outage May 9th

Update: Blackboard is back in service, four hours earlier than expected. Please contact us at blackboard@richmond.edu with any issues or questions.

In order to install patches and maintenance software on the UR Blackboard servers yet minimize impact on usage, the system will be unavailable during an early morning upgrade, 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., Friday, May 9. The user interface will not change and all course content will still be available after the work. Please schedule your UR Blackboard usage accordingly and contact us at blackboard@richmond.edu with any questions or concerns. Continue to check the Blackboard News site (http://blog.richmond.edu/blackboard/) for additional information concerning this outage.

End of Semester Preparation

If you are an instructor using Blackboard and haven’t gotten around to archiving your courses and you want to keep a record of your students’ grades and discussion board interactions, now is the time to archive your course, download your Grade Center as an Excel file, and/or collect your discussion board discussions. Student information is taken out of courses 60 days after the end of the semester. Other than student interactions and grades, all materials will remain in your course until you request its removal or three years has passed (whichever comes first). To download your grades, in Grade Center go to Workoffline > Download and save the full Grade Center. On the next screen, be sure to hit Download instead of OK.
