This is a reminder that the University of Richmond maintains a building block to allow professors to see photographs of their students within Blackboard. To access this feature, the instructor must be in an academic course within Blackboard (this is a course with a CRN from the Registrar). In the control panel click on “Course Tools” and then “Student Photographs”. For support with Blackboard contact blackboard@richmond.edu or 287-6860. Blackboard support provides assistance for uploading files, issues with examinations, and lots of other items. However, we cannot tell you if your professor is using Blackboard. This information is provided by your professor and you will need to contact him/her to answer that question. The course could be unavailable or may not be being used. This also will be true for content within a course. If it is a technical issue (bad file, log-in issues, etc.) contact blackboard@richmond.edu or call 287-6860 (this number is only monitored between 8:30-5, M-F) otherwise, start with your professor!

Reminder to the Blackboard Community:
“On Friday, August 3, 2012, an 18-hour computer outage will be required to perform maintenance in the Millhiser Data Center. All systems will be shutdown starting at noon on Friday, August 3rd and will be back up by 6 AM on Saturday, August 4th. This outage includes all major campus-wide computer systems and applications, including Banner, Blackboard, email, Library systems, netfiles, OneCard, Bookstore, Micros, research clusters, etc. In addition, network connectivity (PCs and servers) for all buildings on the Robins Center side of Richmond Way will be unavailable. However, network connectivity and Internet access will be available for the rest of campus.”
In order to install patches and maintenance software on the UR Blackboard servers yet minimize impact on usage, the system will be unavailable during an early morning upgrade on Friday, July 20, 6pm – Saturday, July 21, 6am. There will be changes to the user interface but all course content will still be available after the work. Please schedule your UR Blackboard usage accordingly and contact us at blackboard@richmond.edu with any questions or concerns.
UPDATE: Blackboard patching is complete and system is active 5 hours ahead of schedule.
