E-mail within Blackboard is currently down

The e-mail option within the Blackboard system is currently not operational.  We are working to fix the issue, and will update this message when it has been restored.

Update: the e-mail option was again available by Thursday, 3am.

Problems uploading files while using Firefox 3.5.x now fixed

Some students have reported seeing error messages when trying to upload files to a Blackboard assignment using Firefox version 3.5.x for the PC. Information Services is working with Blackboard to obtain a fix for this problem and that fix should be available soon.  For the short term, Firefox users are asked to try using Internet Explorer instead if you run into this problem (Chrome, Opera, and Safari for Windows are not supported on Blackboard).

Update: This problem has been fixed.  Please contact blackboard@richmond.edu if you experience any difficulties.

Linking to E-Reserves and Library Resources in Blackboard

Are you interested in embedding electronic reserves into your Blackboard course?  If so, the UR Library provides instructions and procedures on their Library Course Reserves web page.

In addition, you can access pertinent UR Copyright Guidelines and a detailed guide to Linking to online resources within Blackboard on the Library web site as well.  If you have questions, please contact your Library liaison, and they would be happy to assist.

The enhanced features of Blackboard 9 are just around the corner!

With a planned upgrade to version 9 in the Summer of 2010, the UR community can expect many new features and an enhanced look and feel for their flagship course management system.  Some of the principle additions are; a new course homepage, easier access to course tools and rapid reorganization of the menus without using the “control panel”, new options for self and peer-assessment, and simplified creation and management of groups within a course.  Here is a sneak peak: http://www.blackboard.com/release9/
