writing tip

Be sure to go back to Урок 1.1,  немного о языке,  “пишем по-русски”  to find a very useful animated graphic of how to write each letter. In other words, on your main textbook website, go to 1.1,  third sidebar, scroll down, look for the animated tips.

Homework for Wednesday (Class #3)

Добрый день! Time to step it up – get in the habit of practicing your Russian at least 2 full hours a day, 2 x 60 minutes of high focus (or 4 hours of medium focus). It’s like learning to play the piano: unless you actually practice with your fingers on the keys, you will never learn.

For tomorrow: you’ll have the dialog “Hi, what’s your name? My name is X. Nice to meet you!” down cold by the time you walk into the room.  You will have practiced writing out the letters you’ve learned so far, in your HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT WORKBOOK, so you can take a short dictation. I’ll say “кто это?” “это Денис Гурин.”  and you will write on your piece of paper кто это? это Денис Гурин. There will be two more phrases from 1.1 – 1.2 as well, so practice hearing – writing.

In short, tonight:  Review all four components of 1.2 (listening, checking, new letters, “reading” games).  Then practice SCRIPT in your blue homework workbook, section 1.2 (through page 12).  Don’t stress, just patiently practice.

Homework #1 Monday night

  1.  Log onto mezhdunami.org homepage and under “getting started” click on “using the webpage” to watch the brief video guide.  (5 min)
  2. Now go to Урок 1/ текст 1/  and listen to the first 12 slides again. Look at the captions, listen, and repeat out loud.  (10 min)
  3.  follow the instructions for the Вы Все Поняли? (henceforth ввп) exercises (we did these in class, should look familiar).  Continue on to Немного о языке and click to review the alphabet letters-sounds we practiced in class. (20 min: try to copy out individual letters on pp. 4, 6, and 7 of your homework book (the blue one).
  4.  now try the fourth option (on left menu) Читаем по-русски.  Have fun with the little quizlet matching games.  (5 min)
  5.  Take a break, then explore the website a bit more, check out the features. See if you can find (or load) cyrillic onto your smartphone, so you can start texting and/or recording into your phone. Just for fun.
