I took a quote from the essay “Commodification” by Alison Hearn. I was thinking how in our society we are constantly bombarded by the idea that we need more stuff. We see a literal ton of ads every day and each one of them is advertising something different to us. But how many needs to we really have? Other than the basic necessities, there aren’t may things that we can’t go without. But we are told we need to buy another shirt, to add to our collection, because this one is different. I chose this photo because I think it is a fairly good representation of how we are peddled different things, but it takes a closer examination to realize how similar they really are.
