National and central banks have existed around the world for hundreds of years. The Bank of England and the Federal Reserve are two of the most well known central banks and they have acted as models for other national banks in countries such as Canada, Egypt, France, the Netherlands, and Guatemala. National banks have an illustrious history marked with controversy and debate.
