Matt’s StoryMap
This past summer, my family was lucky enough to be invited to sail the Aegean by our good friend’s, the Revillas. They chartered a stunning Turkish sail boat by the name of The Regina, the very boat featured in the most recent Bond movie, Skyfall. The Revilla family is composed of Emanuel Sr. and Luciana, the patriarch and matriarch, and Emanuel Jr. and Alejandro, the older and younger brothers. Emanuel Jr. brought his girlfriend Emily and Alejandro brought his friend Marco. My Family consists of My father, Keith, my mother, Barbara, and myself. I was also able to bring my girlfriend Tabitha along. Together, the ten of us would island hop the through the Greek islands to the Turkish coast for ten days and make memories we would all come to cherish.
We started our cruise in Santorini and made stops in Paros, Mykonos, Patmos, Leros, and ended in Bodrum. We would make our way to new locations in the morning and take the launch to stroll around and experience the islands during the afternoon. We spent our time on the boat relaxing, tanning, swimming, playing Backgammon, eating perpetually, and drinking like, well, sailors. The staff was unrelenting in their desire to ensure we had a good time. Experiencing the landscape gave a backdrop to the Homeric poems I enjoy so much. But the best part of this entire adventure was the company of my friends and family whom I love so dearly. It is thanks to the people I travel with and sharing experiences with them that makes me a global citizen.
