Jennifer’s Global Citizen StoryMap

Growing up, I never thought that I would live anywhere outside of Asia. Indonesia was home, and that was all I needed to know. I would travel to different places, but always return home. However, after I moved, my views have changed. Through the cultures of the different places I have lived, I have been able to learn more about myself as a person. I want to continue exploring the world in which I inhabit.

You did a great job, especially in the first couple of slides, in describing the landscapes using terms from class. It was interesting for me to read because I know next to nothing about the landscapes you describe, and I thought you did a great job of painting a picture of them. I liked how you used the StoryMap as a visual tool to track your journey to Richmond.

Excellent job on the story map. It’s good to see that you have taken notice of the uneven development in Jakarta, even though the shanty houses were located so close to wealthy areas. Your ability to paint a picture with your words is great. Good luck on your studies at UR.

Hi Jennifer, it was interesting to learn about the aplenty multiculturalism you’ve been exposed to from when you were a child until today! Because of the lessons you brought away from each and every country/state you have explored in the Story Map, this demonstrates the concept of place really well – in the sense that these spaces meant something to you. While space is an objective concept to all, place has a subjective meaning for every individual.

Great discussion of various landscapes in different countries and I found your transition from assuming the identity of your parents to adopting your own identity as a global citizen profound.

I really enjoyed your StoryMap! I kind of can relate to you in many of the things you said, specially at the beginning. I loved that you used personal pictures that gave us a little sence of you in each place and how you tried to describe each spot in text as well.
