Felix’s Global Citizen StoryMap

My story map follows the places around the world that I have lived and continue to consider homes today. These places include Boston, MA, Qingdao, China, Beijing, China, Darien, CT, and Christiansted, US Virgin Islands. Whether through family or friends, all of these places hold a special meaning to me because of the people who live there and the connections I have made with them. The cultures I have encountered have shaped the person I have become and made me closer to becoming a true global citizen.

Hi Felix! It was interesting to learn that the concept of home to you meant where your loved ones (i.e. family) are – that is in Christiansted instead of Boston and MA where you spent your early childhood years in. This reflected the difference between “space” and “place” where Christiansted is a place – a space injected with meaning of home and familiarity – to you. Awesome Story Map!

I think this is a really cool StoryMap. I think the different places you call “home” really drives home the point about place that we’ve discussed in class. Even though you don’t live in the places now, they still have significant meaning to you.

Great Story. The lasting relationship that you made with your host family and the school in Beijing is very interesting. Also seeing the Darien video was nostalgic for me. A few more terms from our class would have made it perfect but it was still a very interesting story.

I feel like you did a great job of creating a sense of place. Through your descriptions I was able to clearly see how you were connected to each place, and see these different locations through your eyes. You could have included more geographic key terms, but all in all, a great job!
