Sweet Chai of Mine: Tazo Chai Tea Consumption Map
My go to drink on campus whenever I need a pick me up is a Chai tea latte As a tea fanatic –I know my brewing times– I was curious to trace Chai tea back to its production and analyze how concepts studied in class affect its consumption. Most prominently, the idea of glocalization occurred in which Chai, the standard drink of India is changed to better fit the tastes of an American audience. In addition, the marketing of the product is selling the place: India as a land of health, exoticism, and mystique. I explore the negative and consequences of this concept in each location where Chai ingredients originate from.
