Colombian Immigration to the United States
As a first generation immigrant to the United States, I’ve always been fascinated with different cultures and the power and influence these cultures have over individuals. Through this story map, I attempt to shed light on Colombian immigrants, many of whom came to the United States for similar reasons as my own: not to leave the culture they love, but to escape the cruel reality of the current state of the country during the 1980s to 20o0s. Though many immigrants left Colombia, they retained their culture and expressed it in their daily lives, rebuilding a community with others in similar situations.
