The people of the Oneida Community are fascinating because they are united both through their spiritual and physical connections. I am interested to learn more about the equality that took place within the community despite members being ranked by their spirituality. I need to further explore the relationship between Noyes and the other members of Oneida to better evaluate this community within the concept of utopia. I have started to read Tirzah Miller’s memoir in order to get a better understanding of the relationships that existed within Oneida. I would like to pursue in more detail how spirituality is defined within the context of the Oneida Community and whether it can be developed. I believe this is crucial to the understanding of how Oneida was able to function.
