Leadership Adjusting to Social Change

#1&DONE 1 Comment

With LGBTQ being a prominent social change in the last 10 years or so, leadership and management styles have had to rapidly change and adjust their ways to accommodate different lifestyles and demands. While LGBTQ inclusion benefits are not necessarily new to United States companies, many are still figuring out the ropes and how to master the process and benefits programs. Some companies that have had high success rates amongst the LGBT communities are those such as Walmart, Exxon, Apple, Berkshire Hathaway, United Health Group Incorporated, CVS, General Motors, and Amazon. These companies all rank in the top 20 on the Corporate Equality Index 2018.

The Corporate Equality Index ranks workplaces on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Equality based on the evolution of the criteria, the organizations policies, standards, benefits, organizational competency, and public commitment to the LGBTQ community. Scores of companies are compared from previous years and broken down into numerical criterion so companies can see which areas need improvement. The CEI would be a great document for company management and leadership to take into consideration when developing LGBTQ benefits programs or trying to improve theirs. They could look at companies who consistently score 100 year after year to see what they are doing right and also look at companies that struggle to do score well on the CEI to avoid the mistakes they are making.

Also another great website to check out that is related to the CEI and rating corporations on LGBTQ equality.

    Keaton!

Thank you for introducing the Corporate Equality Index – this is a valuable resource. The longevity tracking is important. Is this an international indicator? I wonder if the German Excursion Day companies subscribe to CEI?
