Big news from the Downey Group – we’ve just been awarded a major grant from the American Chemical Society Petroleum Research Fund (ACS-PRF) for $70,000. These funds will be used to support our investigation of “Cycloadditions and Cyclizations for the Rapid Construction of Highly Substituted Rings,” a project that will focus largely on a number of leads developed by the isoxazoline team (Greg Hughes ’24, Ramsey Goodner ’22, Olivia Lambertson ’23, Mark Strigel ’25) and the styrene team (Grant Dixon ’20, Michael Rodriguez ’22, and Tyler Chong ’23, plus Alex Connors ’24 who already did some preliminary work on the new project). Mark Strigel ’25, Sai Dulam ’26, and Lauren Rausch ’25 will take up these projects in the short term, but funding for this grant may run as long as five years so it should help a lot more students along the way. It’s always an honor to be funded!
