Lab Manager/Research Specialist
Zach Cole: Zach graduated from Ball State University with a M. A. in Cognitive and Social Processes in May 2016. He provides research support for Dr. Bukach, and oversees student-conducted projects in the lab. A major emphasis in Zach’s involvement over the next year will be to get the ERP Lab up and running. He has a B. S. in Psychology and Kinesiology from Washington State University. Currently his research interests are focused on context dependent learning and the constructive process of memory. He also has a mild obsession with panda bears. |

Carew Bartley (’17): Carew is a rising Senior with a major in Psychology with a Neuroscience concentration. As a Summer Fellow (2016) he is currently working on individual differences in Interpreting emotional expression project, specifically morphing. He studied abroad in Barcelona in the Fall of 2015 where he interned at Neuroelectrics, a technology company which designs and manufactures products to monitor and stimulate the brain using EEG and tDCS. He and his mentor handled the regulatory affairs involved in approving their products for use in research and healthcare sectors across the globe. |
Jieyi “Crystal” Ding (’19): Crystal is a rising sophomore who joined the lab her freshman year. Her major is currently undeclared but she hopes to double major in Leadership Studies and Psychology. Currently she is working on the Individual differences project with her focus on programming in Presentation. She has previously worked on the Exposure Duration project through shadowing others during active research scenarios and learning programming and was a Summer Fellow in 2016. |

Tessa Rinnen (’18): Tessa is a rising junior majoring in Biology and Psychology with a Neuroscience concentration. She is currently working on the individual differences project as a Summer Fellow (2016), specifically morphing, but has previously worked on an ORE (other race effect) project during the 2015-2016 school year. Her previous lab experience includes working at Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA (Summer 2015). During that time, she researched the effect of all the FDA approved drugs on the enzyme in the brain responsible for serotonin production in order to determine which drugs may accidentally cause depression. |

Rachel Forsyth (’17): Rachel is a rising Senior with a major in Psychology and minor in Business Administration. She is currently working on the Individual Differences project, specifically programming. Her previous lab experiences includes researching in Dr. Hoyt’s Social Psychology Lab from 2014-2016 on the Mindset project which received the NSF grant. |

Adam Gibson (’17): Adam is a rising Senior majoring in interdisciplinary studies in Neuroscience and Rhetoric. He is currently working on the Individual differences project with a focus on affective states and literature review. His previous laboratory experiences includes work in Dr. Craig Kinsley’s lab, using Golgi-ox straining procedures to study cellular morphology in the frontal cortex of maternal rats and currently collaborating with Dr. Kelly Lambert’s neuroplasticity lab at Randolph-Macon College. |
Rebecca Nguyen (’17): Rebecca is a rising Senior majoring in Psychology with a Neuroscience concentration. She is currently working on the Expressions and Individual Differences study, how sub clinic levels of depression and anxiety influences facial and emotion recognition and interpretation. Her main focus has been on building a background analysis. |

Cassady Olson (’18): Cassidy is a rising Junior with a major in Behavioral Neuroscience. She is a collaborating student from Colgate University who focused on the Birder Project which based on examining holistic processing and expertise and seeks to replicate findings from Kim Curby’s “Disrupting Perceptual Grouping of face parts impairs holistic face processing”. Her previous research experience includes working under Dr. Bruce Hansen, a professor at Colgate University. |
Lauren Nagasugi (May ’16): Lauren is a recent graduate who majored in Psychology with a concentration in Neuroscience. This summer she worked on several projects including heading the Photography Lab, being an MSI (Math Science Investigator) mentor and continuing her work on the Exposure Duration – Other Race Effect project which began in the Spring of 2014 and has evolved into a compilation of experimental runs. As an MSI mentor she lectured to high school students on structural and functional neuroscience, research methods and aided the students in creating their own experiments. |

Elena Santiago (May ’16): Elena is a recent graduate who double majored in Psychology and Cognitive Science. This summer she worked mainly on the PURSUE project, which seeks to aid in teaching undergraduates about electrophysiology, and configuring our lab’s webpage design. She also provided assistance on various projects throughout the lab, including work in the photography lab. Her previous experience includes work on the Exposure Duration – Other Race Effect Staircase Project. |
Lexi Frost (’20): Lexi is a rising Freshman who hails from Chesapeake Virginia. She joined the lab this summer as part of the URISE program and mostly worked alongside Lauren to learn about Programming in Superlab and General Cognitive Science Research. She hopes to major in Psychology and Biology. |
