Benjamin Barad – ISLC: 2015

At the ISLC conference we focused on leadership and ethics and how ethics could influence our decisions. I learned that when considering ethical reasons, decisions could get complex and difficult. In addition, working in such a diverse community I learned that different people have various opinions on these subjects. It was fascinating to hear from and talk to people from all over the world about these issues, and I learned many different approaches to problems. The conference also gave us the fundamental tools we needed to tackle these issues considering issues like responsibility, liberty, fairness, and short-term and long-term results. I will use these skills and ideas to lead my actions in every position or problem that I tackle in Richmond and will attempt to use my new found knowledge to teach others in the community how we should make the best and most ethical decisions we can.
